Frequently Asked Questions
Whether you're an athlete looking for additional support or a parent looking to better support your diver, these frequently asked questions will help you understand what to expect from Parratto Performance.
Who is Parratto Performance for?
Parratto Performance is designed for divers ages 13 and older at a variety of competitive levels, from junior athletes to junior elite, NCAA, and senior elite athletes. Parent Education sessions are also available for parents and guardians looking for guidance on how to best support their athlete throughout their diving journey.
What is diving mentorship?
Diving mentorship provides athletes with individualized support that complements the coaching they receive at the pool. Sessions can focus on areas such as confidence, mindset, competition preparation, visualization, mental blocks, pre-dive routines, goal setting, communication, accountability, recovery habits, and navigating the challenges that come with competitive diving. The goal is to give athletes a space to learn, reflect, ask questions, and develop tools they can carry with them both in and outside of the pool.
Is Parratto Performance a replacement for my athlete's diving coach?
No. Parratto Performance is designed to complement, not replace, an athlete's existing coaching program. Technical coaching, dive selection, and day-to-day training decisions should remain between the athlete and their diving coach. Mentorship provides an additional layer of support focused on the athlete's overall development, mindset, preparation, communication, and performance habits.
What ages do you work with?
Athlete mentorship is currently available to divers ages 13 and older. Athletes under 18 must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian to participate.
Do I need to be an elite diver to participate?
Not at all. Parratto Performance works with athletes across multiple competitive levels. What matters most is that the athlete is motivated to learn, grow, and take an active role in their development.
What can we talk about during a mentorship session?
Every athlete is different, so sessions are tailored to the individual. Topics may include:
Confidence and self-belief
Competition nerves and pressure
Mental performance and mindset
Visualization and pre-dive routines
Competition preparation
Goal setting and accountability
Resilience and reframing setbacks
Athlete–coach communication
Leadership and self-advocacy
Fueling and recovery habits
Balancing diving, school, and life
Navigating transitions within the sport
Sessions can also be shaped around something specific the athlete is experiencing at that time.
How long are sessions?
Standard mentorship sessions are 45 minutes. A 30-minute Intro Session is also available for new athletes who would like an opportunity to connect, ask questions, and determine whether Parratto Performance is the right fit before committing to additional sessions.
Do you offer session packages?
Yes. Athletes can choose from a single session or multi-session packages, including 3-session and 6-session packages. Packages are a great option for athletes who want ongoing mentorship, accountability, and the opportunity to work toward goals over time.
How do I book sessions after purchasing a package?
After purchasing a 3-session or 6-session package, you'll receive a confirmation email with a unique package code. This code allows you to book your sessions individually without paying again.
To schedule, simply visit the booking page, select the appropriate individual mentorship session, choose your preferred date and time, and enter your package code at checkout. Each booking will automatically deduct one session from your package balance.
You can schedule all your sessions in advance or book them individually as needed, giving you the flexibility to plan around training, competitions, and your personal schedule. Be sure to save your package code, as you'll use the same code for each booking until all sessions have been redeemed.
What happens after I purchase a session or package?
After purchasing, you will be able to schedule your session and complete the appropriate registration information. New athletes will complete the New Athlete Registration Form before beginning mentorship. This helps me learn more about the athlete's diving background, goals, strengths, challenges, upcoming competitions, and what they hope to gain from mentorship so that our time together can be as individualized and productive as possible.
How often should I schedule sessions?
This depends on the athlete's individual goals, schedule, and competition calendar. For ongoing mentorship, meeting approximately every other week can provide a helpful balance between consistent support and enough time for athletes to apply what they worked on between sessions. Sessions can also be scheduled around important competitions, transitions, or other moments when additional support would be beneficial.
Are sessions virtual?
Yes. Parratto Performance mentorship sessions are held virtually through Google Meet, making them accessible to athletes regardless of where they train or live.
What is Parent Education?
Parent Education provides parents and guardians with a dedicated space to ask questions and gain perspective on supporting a competitive diver. Sessions may cover topics such as effective parent–athlete communication, competition support, navigating parent–coach relationships, helping athletes develop resilience, encouraging independence, supporting recovery, and maintaining a healthy perspective around performance and results.
Can parents participate in their athlete's mentorship sessions?
Athlete mentorship is intended to create a space where the athlete can communicate openly, build independence, and take ownership of their development. For minor athletes, parents or guardians will complete the required consent process. If there is a specific reason for a parent to participate in a session, this can be discussed in advance. Parents who would like individualized guidance of their own can book a separate Parent Education session.
Will you communicate with my athlete's coach?
Parratto Performance is intended to work alongside an athlete's existing coaching environment, but communication with a coach is not automatically part of mentorship. If communication with a coach would be helpful, it can be discussed with the athlete and, when applicable, their parent or legal guardian before any contact occurs.
Are sessions confidential?
I want athletes to feel comfortable speaking openly and honestly during mentorship sessions. Information shared during sessions will generally be treated with respect and discretion. For minor athletes, however, confidentiality cannot be guaranteed in circumstances involving safety or wellbeing concerns. Parratto Performance is also not a medical, mental health, or emergency service.
What if I need to reschedule or cancel a session?
Please refer to the cancellation and rescheduling policy provided during booking for information regarding schedule changes, cancellations, and missed sessions.
Is Parratto Performance mental health or medical treatment?
No. Parratto Performance provides mentorship, education, and performance-development support based on Jessica's experience as an elite athlete and Olympian. It does not provide medical care, mental health treatment, therapy, diagnosis, nutrition therapy, or other licensed professional services. When an athlete's needs fall outside the scope of mentorship, appropriate professional support should be sought.
What if I'm not sure whether Parratto Performance is right for me or my athlete?
You're welcome to reach out with questions before getting started. You can also begin with a 30-minute Intro Session to learn more about mentorship, discuss what you're looking for, and see whether Parratto Performance is a good fit for your goals.
